Flock Dynamics

Alan Frow / John 21:15-24

We had the pleasure of affirming Chris Johnson as an elder this Sunday! Alan Frow (from our Advance Network) visits to install him onto the elder team, followed by an excellent preach on the gift of shepherds given by Jesus Christ to the church - His flock.

Sermon Questions

  1. Can anyone tell me the name of the sheep who hid from his shepherd? How long did he hide for? And how many pounds of wool did they trim off of him when he was found?

  2. What was the point behind the illustration? Why did we bring it up this past Sunday?

  3. What did we mention this past Sunday as the primary litmus test for our love for Jesus?

  4. Do you think that the litmus test of “our love for God’s people” is for people like Peter (church leader) or for all saints and why?

  5. Have you ever been lead by a bad shepherd? What was that like?

NOTE: For those of you life-groups that spent last week out on mission be sure to take time this week to debrief. Discuss how things went whether good or embracing even. Stories of wins and epic fails are great tools to encourage and spur one another on to living on mission for Jesus.  We are 11 weeks out from Alpha!!!(Answer: 1) Shrek, 4 Years, 60lbs of wool. 2) That when we hide from shepherds and the rest of the flock we end up carrying things we do not need to carry. 3) Our love for Jesus' bride is the litmus test for our love for him.)
