Psalms contain the history of the gracious and pursuing God, from CREATION to the EXODUS to the establishing of the LAW, the TABERNACLE, the TEMPLE, through the crisis of EXILE and prophetically pointing to the MESSIAH. They are POETRY. Not a book of theology, history or narrative. They are littered with EMOTION and IMAGERY, HYPERBOLE and other language devices specifically used to stir something in us.
The psalms point to Jesus, were sung by Jesus, and help us connect to Jesus.
