James-Final-Apr-17.png

James does not necessarily tell us how to become followers of The Way but what he is telling us is what a follower of The Way looks like. There are many different and seemingly disconnected themes in James —perseverance under trial, riches and poverty, wisdom, the danger of the tongue, prayer and faith and works. But what ties them all together is James’s desire to take the teaching of Jesus and apply it to the Christian’s personal life. He takes the teachings of Jesus, particularly the sermon on the mount, and makes it very practical. The faith that James is describing is an EMBODIED FAITH. Jesus said that you will know a tree by its fruit. Being unspotted from the world is a sense of holiness and set-apartness for the Lord.
